About the Author
Kyle Long — your scribe and guide through the virtual pages of this electronic memoir — is one who spoke with his mouth and acted with his arm; one who gave bread to the hungry, beer to the thirsty, and clothing to the naked; the boatless he brought to land. He is one beloved of his father and praised of his mother; a scribe skilled of his fingers: one who sees ahead, a craftsman in the hieroglyphic script, one who fills in what was found lacuna-ridden. Or so he likes to imagine the address to the living in his tomb will one day read.
More comprehensibly, he is an Egyptologist in training, a writer of science fiction and poetry, a baker of bread, and a brewer of beer. He occasionally indulges in acts of photography, is a fountain pen enthusiast in spite of his poor handwriting, and probably plays computer games more than is entirely good for him. He currently resides in State College, Pennsylvania, and in a state of academic limbo. He has previously lived in Florida, Maryland, West Virginia, Idaho, and North Carolina, and hopes soon to move to a pleasant college town near a university at which he can complete his Ph.D.
His plans for the future involve reading dusty and aged tomes, writing hopefully less dusty ones, peering at hieroglyphs, giving students disapproving looks over the rims of his glasses, and generally floating serenely through life in a fog of professorial tweediness.
